This program was originally designed to compute standardized measures (those that can be calculated by raw value, mean and standard deviation) and percentiles across a normal (gaussian) curve.
As Signal Detection Theory (SDT) also presumes gaussian curves, the ability to compute detection theory parameters was added to the computer versions.
